"Thank
you so much for making it possible for children to
see that we are more alike than different, that we
all have a story to tell, and that all our stories
are important."
A. Kashimbiri - teacher, 107th Street Elementary,
Los Angeles.
|
Some
post-visit reflections:
"After going to the Museum of Tolerance
I learned that you should be respectful to
people from other countries and cultures because
every human has the same rights and deserves
respect."
Irene, age 12
|
"...I
can apply what I learned by not letting people
bully other people and help the people who
feel sad and make them feel better."

MODEL
U.N.
Teach
the Children Peace Foundation awarded partial scholarships
to 4 Los Angeles Middle School students to participate
in the 2012 Model United Nations Program. In 2013, one
full scholarship was awarded.
The California YMCA Youth and Government Model United
Nations program is a simulation of the "real-life"
United Nations Assembly. Middle School students that
participate are called Ambassadors. They are given the
opportunity to research, debate and establish policies,
treaties and resolutions focusing on international issues,
including disputes between countries, peace-keeping
responsibilities, border crises and dealing with hunger,
disease and poverty.
"I
have learned to be more confident and
speak up more. Before the program I
couldn't speak up because I was shy.
The program made me a better person
and I learned about what is happening
in the world."
C. Delgado age 13
TCPF Scholarship recipient to the Model
UN Program.
